Software Engineer - Java/BigData/Hadoop/Spark
Our Consumer & Community Banking Group depends on innovators like you to serve nearly 66 million consumers and over 4 million small businesses, municipalities and non-profits. You'll support the delivery of award winning tools and services that cover everything from personal and small business banking as well as lending, mortgages, credit cards, payments, auto finance and investment advice. This group is also focused on developing and delivering cutting edged mobile applications, digital experiences and next generation banking technology solutions to better serve our clients and customers.
The Data Ecosystem organization is responsible for building the strategic, analytic data warehouse for Chase Financial Services and managing the Integrated Consumer Data Warehouse (ICDW), Consumer Data Hub (Info1), Big Data Platforms (Hadoop), and Data Pipeline. DECO also provides direction for large data warehouses across the firm.
Software Engineers are key members of the team supporting the Data platforms heavily leveraging Hadoop. Candidates must be self-motivated with a strong background in technology and a proven ability to translate business needs into data rich, enabled applications and tools. Technical and intellectual curiosity is required, along with the ability to pick up concepts and techniques quickly in order to execute projects and solutions.
Technical debugging and problem resolution are important components of the position. As we work with diverse data, deep understanding of data architecture, Java applications, and query optimization is required. While this role is primarily a developer role, it will require an understanding across all aspects of project life cycle.
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities including:
Required Skills:
Bachelors or Master's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Minimum 6 years of hands-on Java/J2EE application development in a client server environment that demonstrates exceptional design, coding, testing and debugging skills
Experience in designing/building scalable REST API's and web services
Strong fundamentals in Computer Science; In-depth understanding of OO principles and design patterns
Hands on experience with Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Hive
Hands on experience in design and implementation of production-grade Cloud solutions in hybrid, private and/or public cloud like Amazon Web Service, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, VMWare or other cloud technology
Experience with open source frameworks(spring, hibernate, Apache tomcat)
Experience of working within agile teams, Test Driven development, DevOps.
Strong experience with Oracle, PL/SQL or any NoSql databases, and Unix shell scripting
Experience in any of the UI technologies like Angular or React is a strong plus
Quality driven attitude; strong desire to perform thorough and exhaustive unit, integration and system testing
Good interpersonal skills; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Ability to work in globally distributed teams
