OCI Media Services is an exciting new team working on a suite of OCI-native services in the digital media space. We are building services from the ground up that run the gamut from content transcode and streaming to information extraction and analytics.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a key player in building distributed, scalable, fault tolerant software systems in support of our business needs and end customer. You will participate in the entire software lifecycle development, testing, CI/CD and production operations.
From a technology perspective, this is a greenfield development environment with a huge amount of autonomy, leaving us free to build and innovate without being encumbered by legacy products and services.
Senior engineer responsible for design, development of media service components on infrastructure, streaming, analytics layer
Participate in design discussions with architects, technical leads to drive implementation.
Troubleshoot & analyse defects, issues coming from development, pre-prod & production envs
Develop feature functionality as per the design specification to meet overall project objectives/goals
Minimum Qualifications
7+ years of experience design/development of scalable distributed systems
Strong development experience on Java or Python or C++ on Linux development platform
Experience designing/implementing high performance Web services using REST
Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
Strong grasp of Computer Science concepts (data structures, algorithms, and programming paradigms)
You are experienced at building highly available services, possessing knowledge of common service-oriented design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols
Experience with components of modern infrastructure like service discovery, storage, containerization, software-defined networking, etc.
Experience with production operations and best practices for producing quality code in production and troubleshoot issues when they arise
Able to effectively communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing (technical proposals, design specs, architecture diagrams and presentations)
Preferred Qualifications
MS in Computer Science
Strong experience working with Docker, Kubernetes/Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE)
Strong development experience on cloud environment is a MUST, experience in any OCI service technology stack highly desired.
Experience building multi-tenant cloud-scale services
Experience in digital media (transcode, streaming, DRM, etc)
Experience design, development of Media (Video/Audio) Streaming solutions, implementing streaming protocols like RTP, RTSP, highly desired.
Experience in diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving performance issues in complex environments
Development experience in Media workflows: encode, transcode, bitrate, formats highly desired
understanding and experience on multithreading, concurrency models, data structures and algorithms
experience in design/development of caching, buffering solutions is a plus.
Experience in Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Database: Oracle database, NoSQL, Tensorflow, Pytorch is a plus
Any Cloud certification like OCI, AWS is a plus

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.
Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel.
